aktpics > Day 95 - Wilson. I am holding Mikhi's best friend, Wilson. I named him after Tom Hanks' pal the volleyball in the movie Cast Away.

A couple of months after we got Mikhi, Amy started to notice that her dink-dinks (scunci?) were starting to dissapear. Then one night as were getting ready for bed, he started howling. When I went out to check on him, he was serenading this dink-dink.

Amy let him keep this one, and its been his best friend ever since. He carries it around, plays with it, sings to it and he gets lonely when it gets trapped under the couch.

I noticed Wilson was in yesterday's POD, so I though I would introduce him :)
aktpics > Day 94 - Pampered. Rib Steak medium rare, fries, scotch ale and an Underworld double header on dvd. This is my equivilent of a day at the spa.

Thanks everyone for all of your support. The dailies community rocks :)
aktpics > Day 93 - Last Day of Work. Leaving with a small box of personal belongings, reminiscent of a prisoner having been just released from prison.

It certainly wasn't that bad. In fact this week was filled with luncheons and the opportunity to chat it up with lots of people wanting to know what I am going to be doing.

I have gotten to know some really nice people here and it is sad that I won't be seeing them anymore. On the other hand, I really need change and a break.
aktpics > Day 92 - Hand Modeling Portfolio. Tomorrow is my last day of work, so now is as good a time as any to entertain ideas for a new career.

Now, I know what you are thinking, and yes I have also considered foot modeling. I just think that foot models don't get the same level of respect that hand models do.

Don't be too critical - these are not airbrushed nor am I wearing makeup. I wanted to try out some different personalities to demonstrate my dynamic range. They are, left to right: Jaques Cousteau, Hitch Hiker, Lassie, Uncle Sam, Spider-Man, Hugh Heffner, Rock, Paper, Scissors.
aktpics > Day 91 - X-ee, the pregnant cat. My sister Angela is fostering a cat named Christmas who will probably be giving birth any day now. She is the tiniest little thing with the biggest belly.

She also has this uncanny ability to close her eyes only as long as the flash is illuminated. Every time I took her picture it looked like I got her with her eyes wide open. I would look down at the display and her eyes were closed. Aside from the very first picture, I have about 20 pictures of a sleeping cat.

I am looking forward to taking kitten pictures after they hatch. I just hope their eyes function normally. BTW, if anyone is interested in a kitten...
aktpics > Day 90 - Sushi for Smooshie. I am well aware that this is a horrible picture. Did you ever have a picture where the flash didn't go off. That is what this one looked like. I thought it would be cute to have him illuminated by candlelight. I had the flash turned down to it's lowest setting and everything looked good until Merlin got into the picture.

I think his fur is made up of carbon fiber nano-tubes, or whatever the latest breakthrough is in the worlds darkest material. He absorbed almost all of the candlelight and the flash output. I also think he absorbed some of my life-force because I look like I've aged an additional 5 years in this picture.

Much to my surprise and dismay, he also doesn't seem to be afraid of fire. He singed some of the hairs on the top of his head on take one.

Ok, I am done whining. He got his stitches out. He no longer needs his cone/collar. He loved the sushi.
aktpics > Day 89 - Standoff? The idea for this popped into my head a couple of days ago, pretty much out of nowhere. I have been trying to figure out what this image means to me ever since. It's none of the blatant or obvious things either, I'm sure.

I really didn't want to take this shot until I had some idea of what I was trying to convey but I am getting tired of trying to figure out where it came from.

Maybe now that I can see this image outside of my mind, I will be able to come up with something.

[edit] Ok, how about: No matter how big or tough you are, there is always someone bigger.
aktpics > Day 88 - Cat Refresher. Tuesday my little buddy Merlin gets his stitches out and will no longer be forced to wear that debilitating and humiliating collar.

I needed to get some things ready because he will eventually be going outside again. Yesterday I repaired the fence that, I am pretty sure, caused his injury.

I am sure he will be fine...

Also, I finally posted Day 82 almost a week late :(
aktpics > Day 87 - Indulgence. Here's that beer I was thinking about the other day. This is my favorite wheat beer and one of my favorite beers. Brian: I realized that I am familiar with Schneider - they make a Weizen Dopple Bock that I am quite fond of. It is crazy strong, but pretty good.

This was actually another lighting test. I picked up another FL-50R flash. I mounted them on stands with Light Sphere diffusers. My E-3 can control them remotely. I had my primary high and behind the camera and my fill right next to the beer. It is a different way of thinking because with TTL mode they auto adjust for exposure. So, because my fingers were so bright the beer ended up under exposed by about 1/2 a stop. I was under exposed by more that a full stop, which is ok because I look buzzed in this picture and I haven't had any beer yet.

I bumped up the shadows even more so my buzzed face would be less noticeable. I will be experimenting more with these flashes. But for now, I am going to enjoy this beer.
